Graduate Certificates - Interprofessional Graduate Certificate in Gerontology
The Interprofessional Graduate Certificate Program in Gerontology is designed to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of health and human service professionals who provide care to older adults in a variety of settings.
This 12-credit program, offered via distance-education technology, will meet the needs of working professionals who, because of the rapidly aging population, find themselves caring for a growing number of older adults and their caregivers.
Graduates of the certificate program will be prepared to function as members of interprofessional teams to effectively address the health and human service needs of an increasingly diverse aging population.
Individual courses in the certificate program may be taken as electives by graduate students. Undergraduate students who wish to take one or more courses as electives must seek instructor permission.

Students may register for the course GRN 500 Opportunities and Challenges of Aging which is offered in Fall 2013 and is the first course in the Certificate program. GRN503 - Health Policy Issues of an Aging Population is also offered in Fall 2013.
Course sequence: Students will be expected to begin with Course 1, an introduction to gerontology, and to conclude with the final 1-credit integrative seminar. However, courses 2, 3, and 4 do not need to be taken sequentially.

GRN 502: Interventions for Care of Older Adults in Diverse Settings. 3 cr. To be offered every Summer.
GRN 503: Health Policy Issues of an Aging Population. 2 cr. To be offered every Fall semester.
GRN 504: Integrative Seminar in Gerontology. 1 cr. To be developed.
To be offered every Spring semester or as needed (final course in sequence of 5 required courses).
